Simple Herb Garden

herb-garden-tags-emeals

Herbs are a great way to liven up any dish by adding flavor without adding salt, fat, and sugar. Researchers are now finding that many culinary herbs also have antioxidants that may help protect against such disease as cancer and heart disease. Not only is growing herbs good for your health but also your bank account! I love incorporating fresh herbs into eMeals menus during the warmer months when I can grow them myself. This is a fun family friendly activity that can be enjoyed all summer long! I started out with a vintage tin I found at one of my [...]

Jenny Acuff: eMeals Helps Me Build Stronger Friendships

Acuff-eMeals-Dinner

“I’m going to be OK with this whole speed walking thing. I jog. How hard could it be? Does speed walking even really qualify as ‘exercise?’” Those were the last words my husband Jon said shortly before I destroyed him on a 10-mile jaunt around town. He could barely move the next day. He felt like he might need hip surgery. He complained that muscles he never knew he had were aching. Me? I was fine. Why? Because of eMeals. Wait, that doesn’t make any sense. How is eMeals helping me get better at speed walking? Simple, the same way [...]

Organize Your Kitchen (Plus a Giveaway)

drawer-organizer-2

I recently went through my kitchen with a fine-tooth comb, reorganizing it on-camera for our kitchen organizing workshop. I became reacquainted with all sorts of kitchen gadgets that I had collected over the years, like a pasta-measuring device (so I’m sure to cook just the right amount of spaghetti,) and an egg-yolk-separating device. If you’re like me and you enjoy cooking (and gadget collecting), then you may find yourself with a utensil drawer or gadget cupboard that’s bulging at the seams. If so, then it’s time to incubate and date! Kitchen gadgets have a way of multiplying when we’re not [...]

How To Create a Family Headquarters

Kitchen-eMeals

Most can agree that the kitchen always becomes the family “hub”. I blame it on the magical powers of food.  So when building our first home, my number one goal was to make the kitchen our perfect family headquarters. A place to stay organized, plan meals, read cookbooks, enjoy good company and of course good food. Needless to say, this room has quickly become my favorite.  Here are some easy ways that you too can make a family headquarters in any room… Organize drawers This tip might blow your mind- there is no such thing as a junk drawer. That’s right I [...]

Jenny Acuff ~ How To Throw a Last Second Dinner Party

Looking back on it, I wish I made a small edit to my marriage vows. They were beautiful, but I should have tweaked them slightly like this: To have and to hold, to never call your wife and tell her you are unexpectedly bringing some people over for dinner that night.  Maybe my husband Jon is the only one who does that. Maybe your husband sends you a text weeks in advance that says, “I love you so much sweetiecakes. Do you mind if I have one of my coworkers over for dinner in three weeks? Is that ample time [...]

Beth’s E-Mealz Inspired Christmas Tree

As a single mother of two, I had some free time on my hands the weekend of Thanksgiving while the kids were with their father and his family.  I contemplated getting a pedicure and manicure but opted to decorate the house for Christmas instead.  The tree was put in place after much man-handling on my part and then I arranged all the decorations (all of which would be scrutinized and adjusted once the kids returned). In all fairness, I have two trees, one for me and one for the kids. They prefer their tree instead of the “pretty” one. While [...]

Making Your E-Mealz Plan Your Own

There’s a lot of pressure on us here at E-mealz. Pressure to provide an opportunity each day for you to love your family through a meal.  Sometimes we make mistakes. Sometimes you don’t like the dish or we mess up the amounts in the ingredients. Yep, sometimes we are just wrong.  And yet more than not you send us rave reviews and that is our ultimate goal. We are grateful for both the positive and the negative. Without them we couldn’t do our job. Being the vegetarian meal planner, I get a lot of feedback. Seems we have some pretty [...]

What E-Mealz Has Taught Me

My husband and I got married in Birmingham, Alabama where I am from, in 2007. I had recently moved back from Jerusalem, Israel where I was a missionary with the Christian Embassy. At the time, my husband was finishing up his Masters degree at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, so I moved from Jerusalem back to Birmingham and then to Tulsa all in a couple of months. As a new wife, I was really clueless about how to take care of my husband, what was expected of me and what I should do with all of my newfound free [...]
