Better Than Your Average Banana Pudding

This is the type of dessert that I dream about. It is without a doubt top 3 on my list of personal favorites. It has now even become my traditional dish that I bring to our family’s Easter dinner.  Being in my mid-twenties, I consider it quite the honor to be expected to create a “traditional dish” that must show up at each family gathering. Good job, mama on making me come to my senses and learn how to bake. As any southern lady will tell you, it seems that baking is a must. It’s funny to me how many things have changed from generation to generation but the love of food and a good home cooked dish still unites all of us from grandmothers to little ones in our love of comfort food.  I hope that you try this recipe and find that it becomes a new family favorite.

Heather’s Favorite Creamy Banana Pudding

1 large box Jello-O vanilla pudding

1 3/4 c milk

1 can sweetened condensed milk

8 oz heavy whipped cream

1 box of Nilla Wafers

4 bananas

Mix together vanilla pudding and milk for 2 minutes with whisk. Stir in 1 can sweetened condensed milk. Stir in heavy whipped cream. Layer bananas and vanilla wafers (big crumbled pieces) in bottom of pan. Cover with pudding mixture. Repeat layers until complete.  Crumble wafers for topping as well.

Oh, I love banana pudding too and I think our recipes are the exact same! My neighbor, who is an excellent baker, brought me banana pudding once but instead of using the vanilla wafers, she used the Pepperidge Farm Chess cookies. It was absolutely wonderful. I couldn’t bring myself to fix it for my family of 8 though once I priced those cookies. YIKES! I’ll be on the lookout for coupons though. :)

I just made banana pudding cupcakes for my daughters birthday. Both my husband and I love banana pudding, and banana cream pie anythign banana, as do our kids.
