E-Mealz Test Kitchen Expert – Dalton

Here is another peak into one of our E-Mealz “test kitchens.” Between all the members of our staff, we have over 40 “test kitchen experts”… all kids! We want to introduce another one of the members of our “test kitchen team” to you.

This is Dalton, twelve year old son to Beth Stockli, E-Mealz Director of Operations. Beth is also “baby” sister to Jane, Jenny and myself. Dalton’s younger sister, Elise, was featured as one of our experts a few months ago.

Everyone on the E-Mealz Team survives very busy lives with our E-Mealz plans, week after week. And we also pitch in to test recipes and run them past our “resident-yummy-factor-experts.” Dalton is one of our many gate-keepers for what we mean when we say “kid-friendly”!

But Dalton has also become quite the “foodie” and is recommending one of his favorite and frequently requested E-Mealz recipes with us ~ Oriental Chicken Slaw. As you can see, he really enjoys this quick culinary delight! Thanks, Dalton!

Oriental Chicken Slaw

(½ c oil, ½ c sugar, ½ c vinegar)
2 pkgs beef flavored ramen noodles
16 oz slaw mix
2 – 5 oz cans white chicken, drained & chopped
1 small package sliced almonds, toasted

In saucepan, cook on medium heat to boiling oil, sugar, vinegar
& 2 foil packets of Ramen seasonings.  Heat until sugar is melted.
Mix well, remove from heat and let stand until room temperature.
Layer in large bowl, crushed Ramen noodles, slaw, chicken, then
almonds. Pour liquid seasoning mix over the layers. Stir/toss layers
to mix.
[Optional substitutions:  shredded lettuce added to slaw, shredded
chicken from rotisserie chicken and shelled sunflower seeds.]

    I make this a lot during the summer. I add dried cranberries to it also and sometimes use poppy seed dressing. Toasted pecans are also great. Keep up the great work.

    I used apple cider vinegar, and I toasted the sliced almonds in a pan over the stove. My husband and I enjoyed this recipe, it was easy to make and it was very yummy! I will be making this again, thank you! 🙂
