Football Food

Cool mornings, colored leaves and Halloween has passed but the ever-popular football season is still among us. While the game is the main event, it is greatly enjoyed with some salsa and chips along with other yummy comfort foods. My job on game day is to provide the concessions.  I love this job and have created and provided must have staples that my family and friends enjoy.  Two of my family’s favorite “football foods” is Homemade Salsa and Scoops Supreme.  These are delicious snacks that everyone will enjoy.  So from my kitchen to yours…Happy Entertaining!

Homemade Salsa

(Makes 1 Qt.)

2 cans 14.5 oz Del Monte “Original Recipe” stewed tomatoes * no substitute

1 t salt

1 t cumin

1 t chopped garlic

½ C fresh cilantro

2-3 jalapeno pepper rings (I use rings from jar)

Combine in blender or food processor.  Store in refrigerator for a week or so for left over.  (No need to worry about this…it will be eaten before you have to even think about it).   Serve with your favorite chips.

Scoops Supreme

1 bag of Tostitos Scoops

1 regular sized can of refried beans.

Guacamole

Seasoned Sour Cream:  14-oz container of sour cream and I mix it with a packet of taco seasoning.

Shredded cheddar cheese

Finely chopped shredded lettuce

Finely chopped diced tomatoes

Layer each ingredient evenly in the individual scoops in the order listed in the ingredients.  For added flavor you can place an olive or a bite of a jalapeño pepper on top.
