My Must Have Spices

E-MealzIt’s amazing how much a spice can change up the flavor of a dish.  Not only can it add a little flair or kick, it can blend flavors together, make a dish come to completion and have the full-flavored body it needs to satisfy your taste buds.  My longtime relied upon spice has been Jane’s Krazy Mixed-Up Salt.

E-MealzAnother thing I love about spices is that even when my husband doesn’t think he loves a vegetable, it suddenly becomes ok when I put Jane’s seasoning salt on it.  The other spice I love is Joe’s Stuff. I discovered this spice a few weeks ago when I was down visiting in New Orleans.  They cook with this spice at The New Orleans School of Cooking. I instantly fell in love and had to have it.

So, there you have it.  These are my two go to spices. What are your favorites?

I like Old Bay, good for fish and poultry. I add a pinch to the flour when making chicken and dumplings, makes people wonder what is that wonderful flavor? I also can NOT live without saffron!

Curry, chipotle chile powder, and cumin are probably the most used and most loved in our house. I don’t think I’ve seen any of these on the list in the six months we’ve used e-mealz, though. :(

      Hi Lynsey,
We always want you to feel free to modify a recipe to fit your tastes so if you ever feel like adding some of those spices in to your side dishes or the main meal instead, feel free!

I have used Morton’s “Natures Seasoning” for years! It has salt and pepper, onion, garlic and celery salt. I am sure it has more, but the combo is excellent!
