This is a special red, white and blue treat for you to share with your family at this special time of celebration. Our cousin, Amy Margraff, added fresh strawberries to our recipe and posted this awesome picture of her “Old Glory Trifle” to our Facebook!

Leading up to the 4th Of July, we can all be reminded it is a Celebration of Independence. The beauty of freedom is expressed perfectly in the opening of the Declaration of Independence where Liberty sits squarely between Life and Happiness.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

      It’s underneath the green refrigerator with the pictures of our founders. It has the patriotic hat on top of it. Hope that helps!

    My family has been making a healthier, diabetic friendly version of this for years.

    Triple Berry Trifle

    You need:

    * 1 – 2 lbs of strawberries, sliced. (Save at least one for decorating the top)
    * 1 pint of blueberries. (Save some for decorating)
    * 1/2 pint of raspberries.
    * 1 Big Tub of Cool-Whip
    * 1 Angel Food Cake
    * 1 Large Box of Sugar Free Vanilla Pudding (and enough milk to prepare)
    * 1 Small Box of Sugar Free Strawberry Jello

    First Layer:
    Cut up angel food cake into bite size pieces and layer along bottom of trifle dish, followed by strawberries and the strawberry jello. Allow to set in the refrigerator.

    Second Layer:
    Add vanilla pudding and blueberries and raspberries. Allow to set.

    Third Layer:
    Cool Whip. Topped with whatever spare fruit you have to decorate.

    If you can stand to let it sit overnight before adding the Cool Whip and serving, it’s that much better. YUM!

    I made this for our weekend company this past Saturday … it was FABULOUS!!! I got rave reviews from our 12 guests who shared this dessert. There was plenty to go around for all. HOWEVER, you need to MIX the vanilla pudding with the cool-whip and use that as the two layers. I highly recommend the fresh berry top layer, as well! YUMMY!
