Red Barbecue Sauce

With tailgating season right around the corner, barbecue becomes even more of a staple! Fire up your grills, your egg, or your crockpot and get ready for some great food this football season! This basic barbecue sauce achieves the ideal balance of sweet and spicy, making it a versatile condiment for ribs, pork shoulder, or chicken.

Red BBQ Sauce
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup cider vinegar
  • ⅓ cup packed brown sugar
  • ΒΌ cup tomato paste
  • 2 tablespoons onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  1. Combine all ingredients in a med saucepan over med heat.
  2. Simmer 20 min or until thickened, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat. Serve warm, or cover and store in refrigerator up to 1 week.
