This morning I am thinking about being a Mom, having a Mom, sharing life with my sisters who are awesome Moms, admiring friends who take Mom-hood to new levels and all the Moms with whom we interact and serve everyday here at E-Mealz.
We have a friend, Kimberly Thomas, who we enjoy watching her enjoy being a Mom. Her husband, Chris, sent me this picture of Kimberly in her Super Mom costume at Halloween. I have held on to it for this blog post just to remind us all that life as a Mom requires Super-human-love-strength… and the beautiful thing is… God gives it to you when you become a Mom! That is something to celebrate!
Kimberly is a Super Mom who clearly enjoys her kids, lets them make forts under the dining room table (a happy childhood memory for us as well), is an E-Mealz diva (here is a previous post about her interview on “Better Nashville”) and bakes delicious home-made lasagna and French Apple pies.
I know her kids will look back at their childhood with very fond memories of her cooking and bedtime story-telling. But it will be her intentional kindness to them as they walk through the minutia of living that will paint their lives… and naturally cause them to want to celebrate and honor her.
As a Mom, I feel a little conflicted about the desire to be honored on Mother’s Day, when my life is dedicated to selfless sacrifice. But it feels natural and logical to honor my own Mother, and I know that feeling is an element of the emotional stability and mental health of my life. I certainly want my child to carry that sense of mooring in his life, and into his future life as a spouse and a parent.
So I encourage you to enjoy being celebrated this Sunday. Print out our free Breakfast-In-Bed Mother’s Day Menu (from the left-hand navigation of our site or from your member’s page) and leave it in a conspicuous place for your spouse or kids to find! Happy Mother’s Day!
